Together We Fight
The Republic of Concordia brings together human nations and various demi-human peoples. Their governments differ widely in structure and priorities, but at present a common cause holds them together: resisting the Valrath Dominion's military campaigns and containing the Blight, a mysterious illness spreading across the land. Even with survival as a shared stake, the member nations do not always agree on how to pursue it, and internal disputes are common.

Origins
Concordia's founding principle holds that building a home requires more than one builder. Centuries past, a human trader named Albert Rosewell brought his caravan to rest in a broad field beside a river and chose to end his trading life there, committing his fortune instead to peace and prosperity. His modest cabin grew into a village, then a town, then a sizable city that served travelers and merchants passing through. That settlement, Rosehaven City, took his name and kept expanding long after he died. Its government, chosen by democratic vote, never abandoned the founder's principles, welcoming anyone seeking shelter or a chance to build anew.
In the present day, the Valrath Dominion's push to expand threatens to swallow the continent whole. Out of that pressure, the Republic of Concordia formed as a coalition of nations determined to defend whatever free territory remained. Rosehaven now stands as the Republic's capital, representing the alliance's unity against the encroaching darkness.
Some of the factions within the alliance include:
Dresden is a country shaped by human engineering achievement. Advances in science drove rapid gains in productivity and industry, producing a prosperous society — and, alongside it, one of the strongest militaries on Elyrion, capable of meeting the Valrath Dominion on even terms. Its tanks, automaton mechs, aircraft, and aetheric shield technology give an ordinary human soldier the means to face down enhanced vampires and demons.
Sanctum – A young and expanding religious faction that emerged following the divine descent of the primal angel Seraphiel, offering hope to those who want to believe the Blight can be defeated and the Valrath Dominion turned back. Followers regard Seraphiel, the Herald of Light, as a living deity, and her presence guides the movement's faith and zeal. She is flanked by the Thrones, an elite corps of angelic guardians, and the Templars, a devoted order of knights. Where Concordia's other factions answer to divided councils, Sanctum answers directly to Seraphiel, drawing followers from across the nation.
Segovia is home to demi-humans scattered by Valrathian conquest. In search of safety and a way forward, its people pledged themselves to the Republic and found protection under its banner. Segovian society draws its strength from resilience and mutual bonds, blending the distinct cultures of the Fenrir, Nekora, and Leporin. A great many Segovians fight within the Republic's forces, driven by the hope of one day reclaiming their homeland.
Thornwill Grove sits at the edge of the Verdant Shroud, a remote stretch of forest that outside prospectors have long fought over for its resources. The Sylvan tribes native to the region have historically kept apart from human affairs and resisted industrialists pressing into their old-growth forests. The Valrath Dominion's advance has since pushed both sides into an uneasy truce, born of shared necessity rather than trust.
Other minor nations — Concordia's influence is understood to extend across the whole territory connecting its allied nations, including scattered cities and other participants that engage peacefully in the Republic's broader trade network.
Ideals
Common Enemy - Concordia's separate nations are joined in a shared mission: holding off the Valrath Dominion and the advancing Blight alike.
Wealth of Nations - Shared trade agreements drive economic growth by letting each nation focus on what it does best. The resulting specialization speeds technological progress, as experts push forward in engineering, healthcare, and construction.

Military
Concordia's military strength grows out of its capacity for cooperation across many races, cultures, and levels of technology, all working toward a goal its citizens see as bigger than any one of them. Dresden's vehicles and mechanized suits give an edge that can turn nearly any citizen into a capable combatant. Backed by a complete army, navy, and air force, Concordia's combined forces are difficult to outmaneuver.

Concordia calls on volunteers to train and join its armed forces, a need made more urgent by the Valrathian threat massing at its border. Speculation of full-scale war persists, even as the Vampire Lords of Valrath continue to insist they have no plans to strike Concordian territory.
Concordia also relies on the divine strength of Sanctum, a militant faith devoted to the primal angel Seraphiel, the Herald of Light. Her Templars — fanatical knights clad in sanctified aetheric plate — rank among the most formidable soldiers in the field, cutting through enemy lines with their blades. Her finest fighters, the Thrones, are angels blessed by Seraphiel and skilled in potent aetheric magic. Though they answer to their own command structure separate from Concordia's, their involvement is taken as a sign of divine favor and lifts the spirits of Concordian troops on the battlefield.
In the free city of Vespera, security forces from both Valrath and Concordia operate side by side under a bilateral agreement meant to keep trade open. The city has remained independent despite attempts by both powers to sway its politics.
Only United Will We Stand a Chance
Concordia's combined territory gives it substantial weight in global affairs. A once-scattered collection of independent countries and city-states has become a military power in its own right. Whether that will be enough to hold back the spreading Blight remains an open question — as does whether the ties binding these nations together can withstand the trouble still ahead.
